Rutland Podiatry ensures that all instruments, equipment and processes are either disposable or sterilised to the approved standards of The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists to minimise risk of cross infection.
Each patient has an individual set of sterile instruments used for their consultation. All instruments are cleaned after use to remove any debris and then ultrasonically cleaned. The instruments are repacked for autoclaving for the recommended cycle of sterilisation.
Disposable blades and needles are placed in a special sharps container and disposed of appropriately.
Clinical waste is put in a special sack, and is disposed of by an approved company with a license to legally dispose of this type of waste.
